We have some Great Art Classes planned for
Summer 2010.
Week 1, June 21-25, Watercolors & Sketching, $5
Limit 15-20 kids. Learn the dos and don'ts of painting with watercolors and how to use the masking technique. Sketch using shading and perspective. Go home with a picture you can be proud to hang on your wall that is matted and ready for framing.
Week 2, June  28-July 2, Clay/Sculpting, $5
Limit 20 kids. Use different techniques in making hand-formed clay projects and learning to make pots on the kick-wheel, also, how to use a kiln. We'll be using clay that has to be fired and also air drying clay. Projects will be ready to be taken home within two weeks allowing for drying and firing time.
Week 3, July 5-9, Scrapbooking, $10
Limit 15 kids. Each student will receive a 12x12" scrap book and all papers and embellishments needed to complete their book. Discover how to put together an interesting, fun and creative scrapbook by learning how to sort, place and embellish books.
Week 4, July 12-16, Acrylics/Oil Painting, $5
Limit 15 kids. Be sure to wear old clothes for painting. Learn the fundamentals of painting with acrylics and oils. Learn how to prepare the canvas, mix colors, base and detail painting, and color theory.
Week 5, July 19-23, Sewing/Fabric Painting, $10
Limit 10 kids. Must be at least 9 years old, and love to sew. Learn how to use a pattern, We will make aprons for home and to sell in the fall as an art center fundraiser. There will be other projects to work on as time allows.
Week 6, July 26-30, Cooking Around the World, $5
Limit 20 kids. Take a tour around the world and sample foods from different cultures. Some of the places we'll go to are: Mexico, Italy, China and Japan. Finish off the week with an English tea party.
Week 7, August 2-6, Girlie Girl Week, $5
Limit 15 girls. You'll need permission from parents for this class. Do all the things a girl likes to do. Receive make-up tips from an independent beauty consultant with Mary Kay. Learn proper skin care, how to apply makeup, paint finger nails, do hair styles, and make candles..
Week 8, August 9-13, Paper Crafting/Card Making, $5
Limit 20 kids. Have fun making interesting projects using only paper, scissors, and glue. Some of the projects will include paper mache, specialty cards, collages, and other projects.
Week 9, August 16-20, Crocheting/Knitting, $5
Limit 10 kids. We will starting with the basic crochet or knitting stitches and work with a simple pattern to make something useful. Learn how to make a granny square and sew them together. Kids will be able to do crocheting, knitting, or both.
Week 10, August 23-27, Sewing & Cloth Art, $10
Limit 10 kids. Must be at least 9 years old. Tie dying will be the big project this week. Other sewing projects may include some simple quilting or wearable projects and a rice bag for heating or cooling the aches and pains.
Week 11, August 30-September 3, Open Art Week, no cost
No size limit. A chance where kids and come in and finish up projects and they may not have had time to complete during the class week or work on some other craft and art projects. All project supplies will be available for the kids to work with.
